COMMITTEES
There are nine position on the Executive Board for the Nu Psi Chapter at James Madison University. The brothers that hold these titles are essential to the success and development of the chapter. They serve as role models to the brothers and leaders in the JMU community. Please look below at any position to learn more.
President
The President of the Nu Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi serves as the liaison between the chapter and the James Madison Community, as well as between the chapter and AKPsi Nationals. The President corresponds with the Chapter Advisor to relay information about events that AKPsi is holding. The President runs the weekly meeting and makes important decisions pertaining to fraternal events.
Master of Rituals (MOR)
The MOR serves as the facilitator of all rituals. He/she also ensures order during weekly meetings.
Warden
The Warden functions as the gate keeper at all meeting and ensures that everyone who is present is a brother of the fraternity. He/she also makes sure Brothers arrive to meetings in a timely manner.
VP Administration
Some tasks the VP Administration is responsible for are taking attendance at meetings, recording the minutes of meetings and sending them to the fraternity after the event, and informing the chapter of upcoming events. VP Administration creates a calendar for the semester so every brother is aware of all events and meetings being held.
VP Performance
The VP of Performance keeps an accurate record of brothers’ status of fraternal requirements. He/she is also responsible for communicating the chapter’s Annual Chapter Report status to the National and Regional Management Teams and making sure the chapter accumulates as many points as possible.
VP Finance
The Vice President of Finance for Nu Psi is a crucial position to ensure financial success in the chapter. They are tasked with updating the current balances for all checks paid and monies received, communicating with the controller for accurate records of deposits made, and creating and managing the budget. They also pay all invoices to nationals and fill out a Tax Exemption form.
VP Alumni Relations
This position is very important because the alumni brothers are a huge asset to the fraternity. The Vice President of Alumni Relations hosts events to connect current brothers with brothers who have previously graduated. Some events are tailgates, brunches, and networking luncheons. This position often helps match brothers with an alumni that may work in a company the brother is interested in. The alumni brothers are a huge networking tool and the VP Alumni Relations ensures that the relationship remains strong and intact.
VP Membership
The VP Membership has a very important job within the fraternity because they serve as the new member educator. When the new pledge class is formed, the VP of Membership helps them to become ready for full membership as a brother in Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity and to become better business leaders.
VP Marketing
The VP Marketing position is responsible for facilitating communication between the Marketing Committee and the executive board. They lead Marketing to assist other committees in advertising their events to the JMU public as well as help with each semester’s Rush.
Non-Executive Board Committees
Executive Board leadership roles are a timely commitment and require knowledge and experience in the fraternity. For brothers looking to become involved outside of Exec, other leadership experience can be gained through joining a committee. There are a wealth of committees in different fields that are imperative to the success of Nu Psi. The committees that are currently held by brothers are shown below:
